Runners Foot?
Cuboid syndrome is sometimes referred to as a form of "runner’s foot" because it commonly affects athletes, especially runners, due to repetitive stress and poor biomechanics. Unlike plantar fasciitis—which often results from overpronation—cuboid syndrome is more closely associated with over-supination (excessive outward rolling of the foot). This abnormal motion places extra strain on the lateral foot, particularly the cuboid bone. When combined with improper footwear that lacks lateral support or adequate cushioning, the cuboid can become partially dislocated or misaligned, leading to sharp pain on the outer midfoot. This makes cuboid syndrome a lesser-known but significant counterpart to plantar fasciitis in runners, rooted in opposite foot mechanics but similarly influenced by poor shoe choices.
