Need urgent physiotherapy for pain or an injury? Our emergency physiotherapy service provides fast access to professional assessment and treatment when you need physiotherapy sooner than a standard appointment allows.

Whether you have experienced a sports injury, sudden back or neck pain, muscle strain, joint pain, sprain, or another musculoskeletal problem, our physiotherapist can assess your symptoms and advise on the most appropriate treatment. Where clinically suitable, we may be able to offer a same-day or last-minute physiotherapy appointment, subject to availability.

Early physiotherapy assessment can help you understand what may be causing your pain, manage your symptoms and provide a clear plan for recovery. Treatment may include hands-on physiotherapy, exercise rehabilitation, advice and guidance tailored to your individual needs.

If you cannot find a suitable appointment through our standard booking calendar, our urgent physiotherapy appointments may provide an alternative option.

Emergency and last-minute appointments are limited, subject to clinical suitability and availability, and are charged at an enhanced rate.

What Is Emergency Physiotherapy?

Emergency physiotherapy provides access to a physiotherapist when you need an urgent assessment for a new injury, sudden pain or a musculoskeletal problem and cannot wait for a standard appointment. Appointments are subject to availability and clinical suitability.

Can I Get a Same-Day Physiotherapy Appointment?

Where availability allows, we may be able to offer same-day or last-minute physiotherapy appointments. These appointments are limited and are offered on a first-available basis, subject to clinical screening.

What Conditions Can Emergency Physiotherapy Help With?

Urgent physiotherapy may be appropriate for problems such as sudden back or neck pain, sports injuries, muscle strains, sprains, joint pain, tendon problems and other musculoskeletal conditions. Your physiotherapist will assess your symptoms and determine whether physiotherapy is appropriate.

I Can't Find an Appointment Online. Can You Still Help?

If you cannot find a suitable appointment through our standard booking calendar, you can request an emergency physiotherapy appointment. Availability is limited, but we may be able to offer an alternative time depending on the circumstances.

Is Emergency Physiotherapy More Expensive?

Yes. Emergency and last-minute appointments are charged at an enhanced rate because they are offered at short notice and outside our standard appointment availability. The applicable price will be provided before your appointment is confirmed.

Do I Need a GP Referral for Emergency Physiotherapy?

No. You can contact us directly and do not normally need a GP referral to book a private physiotherapy appointment.

Will I Receive Treatment During an Emergency Appointment?

Where clinically appropriate, treatment can begin during your appointment. Your physiotherapist will first assess your symptoms and discuss their findings with you before recommending the most appropriate treatment.

Will My Emergency Physiotherapy Appointment Be Confirmed Immediately?

A booking request does not automatically mean that an appointment has been secured. Your appointment is only confirmed once you receive confirmation by email or text message. If you have not received confirmation, please contact us before attending.

Can I Use Private Health Insurance for an Emergency Physiotherapy Appointment?

You may be able to claim the cost of your emergency physiotherapy appointment back from your private health insurer, depending on your policy and the requirements of your insurance provider.

Please note that not all insurers cover appointments booked through our emergency physiotherapy service. For example, patients insured with providers such as Bupa and Aviva, along with certain other insurers, may not be able to claim for these appointments.

If you intend to use private health insurance, we recommend checking your policy and insurer's requirements before booking. For information about the insurers we can work with and the available options, please visit our Private Health Insurance page.

If your insurer does not cover the appointment, you will be responsible for the full cost of the emergency physiotherapy appointment.

What If My Injury Is Very Painful?

Severe pain does not necessarily mean that physiotherapy is inappropriate, but your symptoms will need to be assessed. Your physiotherapist may recommend another healthcare service if your symptoms require medical assessment or treatment outside the scope of physiotherapy.

Is Emergency Physiotherapy Suitable for a Medical Emergency?

No. Emergency physiotherapy is intended for urgent musculoskeletal problems and is not a replacement for emergency medical care. If you have symptoms of a serious or potentially life-threatening medical emergency, call 999 or seek appropriate urgent medical assistance.

Can I Cancel or Change My Emergency Appointment?

Emergency appointments are subject to our cancellation and no-show policy. Because these appointments are offered at short notice, cancellation or failure to attend may result in the full appointment fee being charged. Please check the booking terms before confirming your appointment.

What Should I Do If I Am Unsure Whether I Need Emergency Physiotherapy?

If you're unsure whether physiotherapy is appropriate for your symptoms, contact us before booking. We can discuss your situation and advise whether an urgent physiotherapy assessment may be suitable or whether you should seek another form of medical care.

I received excellent care from One Stop Physio. They got me moving again and I am so grateful.
